The Yeti from LEGO Collectible Minifigures joins this year’s collection of Hallmark Keepsake Christmas ornaments.
Hallmark has offered LEGO minifigures as part of its Keepsake ornaments collection for years, upscaling minifigures to a size that means they’ll actually be visible on your Christmas tree. Because this series has been running for a while, some of the most obvious holiday-themed characters have been offered before. That makes the Yeti a tangential, but still Christmassy, addition to the collection (and certainly more festive than Harry Potter or an Astronaut).
There is an exciting festive feature coming in Blocks magazine Issue 98! If you take out a subscription to Blocks, the LEGO magazine for fans, you’ll get each issue first and at a discount, plus other perks including a free digital subscription and the chance to win LEGO prizes every month.
As ever, the Yeti has been expertly scaled up as a solid minifigure replica with no articulation. There’s a metal loop on its head for attaching a ribbon to. While all of the charm of the original minifigure has been conveyed through careful decoration and sculpting, unfortunately the final execution is let down. There are tiny cracks all over the white plastic – while these are not visible at a distance, they are when you look at the ornament close up and from a premium brand like Hallmark, collectors expect better.
This is the most Christmassy of all of this year’s collection is as well-sculpted as expected, but unfortunately is let down by what must be an issue with the plastic used to cast the ornament.
