Aardman stop motion short features children’s LEGO creations

The LEGO Group and Aardman, the studio behind Wallace & Gromit, have released a new short film online featuring children’s LEGO creations.

Last year, the LEGO Group and Aardman shared Boop with the world, a stop motion animated short featuring a lovable alien character. Children were invited to create their own ending to the story and now Aardman has released a short film that concludes Boop’s story.

The final short film showcases children’s stop-motion creations. It sees Boop travelling through a LEGO brick world as they head home to their clay-based planet.

This is just part of the collaboration between the two iconic brands – a LEGO Wallace & Gromit has been announced and will be unveiled later this year, bringing the iconic duo to the brick for the first time. In reference to that set, a poster is hidden away in the short.

“To see the results of the collaboration between LEGO Insiders Club, Aardman and young builders is inspirational,” said LEGO SVP of Digital Consumer Engagement Anna Rafferty. “This work puts storytelling and the joy of creation front and centre and embodies our commitment to inspiring the creators of tomorrow.”

“The response to the LEGO Play app stop-motion studio series and our lovable alien Boop has been phenomenal and inspirational,” said Aardman Chief Creative Director Sarah Cox. “We’ve seen lots of passionate engagement from young LEGO fans – and (hopefully!) future animators – whose ideas helped shape and influence the final film.”

Boop will also be included as part of the LEGO Group’s ongoing social impact work with Young V&A, so that children from Tower Hamlets schools will be able to attend the Inside Aardman: Wallace & Gromit and Friends exhibition, followed by an exclusive screening of the ‘Boop’ short film and a LEGO brick stop-motion workshop.
