Inside LEGO Ideas 21369 The X-Files
The truth is in Blocks as the long-awaited LEGO The X-Files finally becomes a reality.
Fan designer Brent Waller first created his X-Files-inspired model a decade ago, but there were many twists and turns before the model became an official LEGO set. Brent shares the story behind that journey, revealing how his original idea evolved along the way and the shout out he received from David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (the actors behind Fox Mulder and Dana Scully).
The issue goes even deeper into The X-Files with exclusive interviews with creator Chris Carter and William B. Davis. Carter reflects on crafting the series, making movies, exploring paranormal phenomenon and toying with life’s biggest questions, while Davis looks back at playing the enigmatic Cigarette-Smoking Man and giving the villain a layered personality.
Why do we love playing with LEGO bricks?
What makes sitting down with a pile of LEGO bricks such a satisfying experience?
Jess Uhre Rahbek, a professor specialising in play who has worked with the LEGO Foundation and LEGO House, explores that question in his new book, This is Why You Love LEGO. It delves into what happens when you build creatively in a granular way that illuminates the process in new ways. Jess shares his ideas with Blocks and explains the concept of ‘playful tension’ that is at the heart of the LEGO experience.
