The LEGO Group named on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list

TIME has releases its TIME100 Most Influential Companies list and the LEGO Group is one of the organisations selected.

The LEGO Group shows no signs of slowing down in its 93rd year in existence, as it has been named on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list. When considering companies for the list, TIME takes into account factors including impact, innovation, ambition and success.

“A lot of things came together really well to create momentum for the business through all of 2024,” CEO Niels Christiansen told TIME. While the rest of the toy industry struggled in 2024, the LEGO Group increased the Danish company’s market share.

Between 2019 and 2024, revenue increased from 43.7 billion DKK (approx. £4.9 billion) to 74.3 billion DKK (approx. £8.4 billion). Consumer sales increased by 93% since 2019, against the toy market increasing by just 11%.

TIME also acknowledged the LEGO Group’s cultural significance, noting the impact 2014’s The LEGO Movie had on cinema, ultimately leading to Barbie (a point made in the LEGO magazine’s The LEGO Movie 10th anniversary issue):

And its IP has moved beyond the basic brick: The LEGO Movie redefined the genre of product IP films and was a shock critical success, with the franchise grossing around $1 billion in total and laying the groundwork for other successful movies-based-on-toys, like Barbie and Trolls.

In other accolades, Blocks was named as a most read magazine in 2024.
