Talking about LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series remakes

75417 AT-ST Walker is the latest LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series and it got the Blocks team thinking about different sets that have been remade through the years as part of UCS.

Blocks Editor Graham E. Hancock and News Writer Ryan Everleth are having a chat about LEGO Star Wars, sparked by 75417 AT-ST Walker. It’s a remake of 10174 Imperial AT-ST from 2006 with 1,513 pieces and a price of £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99. They are talking about some of the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series that have been made over the years, to see how they have changed and what the series has become.

“I had to think for a second and realise that it was a remake,” Ryan said of 75417 AT-ST Walker. “The old one is borderline 20 years old now. This one is so clearly modernised from the old one yet at the same it looks remarkably similar if you put the two images next to each other. You obviously have 20 years of improvements going into this thing, but at the end of the day it’s still an AT-ST. So it’s more, how has LEGO building changed in 20 years?”

“I can guarantee something that the new one won’t have that this one had,” Graham added. “Which is that the entire head section is held together by rubber bands. It’s one of the wildest techniques that has ever been used in a LEGO Star Wars set. Once you have got all of those panels you use bands to hold two of them together to get the right level of tension so you’ve got that nice angle on the head.”

During the discussion, they talk about the following models:
