75417 AT-ST Walker will be the next LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set

LEGO Star Wars has just unveiled the next Ultimate Collector Series set – 75417 AT-ST Walker, based on Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

75417 AT-ST Walker is going to be the next LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set, scheduled to release on August 1, 2025, with 1,513 pieces and a price of £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99. It’s releasing alongside three other LEGO Star Wars sets revealed today – 75433 Jango Fett’s Starship, 75413 Republic Juggernaut and 75435 Battle of Felucia Separatist MTT.

This will be the second time the AT-ST is delivered an Ultimate Collector Series version; the first released in 2006 as 10174 Imperial AT-ST with 1,068 pieces. The new set adds roughly 500 pieces to that original count, while also including the standard UCS display plaque and an AT-ST Driver minifigure.

The updated set takes advantage of two decades’ worth of new pieces and building techniques to bring the design closer to the likes of 75313 AT-AT from 2021. The AT-AT’s two-legged cousin is sure to make a fine compliment to that massive set, though 75313 is unfortunately retired, so pairing the two together would be quite the expensive task if you don’t already own 75313 AT-AT.

75417 AT-ST Walker will stand at 37cm (14.5in) tall and 22cm (8.5in) deep, a fair height for a UCS set and certainly bigger than previous play scale AT-ST sets.

Design cues have definitely been taken from the likes of 75313 AT-AT and recent play scale AT-STs, with a mix of studs and tiles creating some nice texture on the head as well as the legs. Those legs do appear to be static, likely to keep the model stable. And even if they were posable, it wouldn’t be all that convenient a feature — play scale AT-STs are notorious for their limited leg articulation that topples the sets after just one click of the joint.

Posability on 75417 AT-ST Walker is thus restricted to the head and two cannons mounted on either side. The former can rotate left and right while the latter can be aimed up and down. Hatches are also functional – the top hatch can open and the two viewport covers can be adjusted for maximum armour or sight.

The entire top can also hinge open to let human hands access the interior, which contains dual controls and two seats, even though the set includes just one minifigure. The Driver minifigure could fit in the brick-built chairs, but the set is well above minifigure scale, so the missing second driver stings a bit less.

A home for the minifigure is thus given on the small stand for the plaque — a common practice in UCS sets when the vehicle is too large for minifigures. It’s an incredibly basic build, but the plaque and space for the minifigure are always welcome.

The figure itself isn’t anything to write home about in terms of striking design, but AT-ST Drivers aren’t a very fashionable bunch to begin with. Arm printing is a nice touch, and the grey jumpsuit does look good, but if you’re not a fan of the Imperial crew outfits to begin with, this figure isn’t likely to change your mind.

Based on initial images, 75417 AT-ST Walker does appear to be a significant upgrade compared to the original set from 2006, thanks to new elements and the tiling off of many studs on the head. Whether this proves to be a necessary upgrade for those who already own the classic version remains to be seen, so be sure to stay tuned to Blocks magazine for the official verdict once the set releases in August.
