The LEGO Group brings LEGOLAND Discovery Centres into the company

The LEGO Group is set to acquire all LEGOLAND Discovery Centres worldwide from Merlin Entertainments, who had owned and operated the attractions since their inception in 2007. This acquisition will bring LEGOLAND Discovery Centres under direct control of the LEGO Group, while LEGOLAND Resorts will remain with Merlin Entertainments. Both companies are owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family.

To cap off celebrations of World Play Day on June 11, the LEGO Group donated over 14,000 LEGOLAND Billund tickets to international charities and nonprofits serving children and families in need. Tickets were donated based on completed "play pacts" handed in by children in LEGOLAND Parks across the world.
