Even more LEGO Editions sets are on the way, focusing on famous footballers in minifigure format and a buildable statue format.
LEGO Editions debuted earlier this year with 43019 Football and 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy, then revealed two Formula 1 helmet sets – 43014 Scuderia Ferrari HP Charles Leclerc Helmet and 43022 Scuderia Ferrari HP Lewis Hamilton Helmet. Now, the LEGO Group has announced a range of models inspired by famous footballers that will launch on May 1.
Each of the Football Highlights sets seems like an excuse to offer a minifigure of the player in question – they are display sets that place the footballer at the centre, with a letter-shaped display base and relevant items around them. They do not look very playable. The LEGO Group refers to each as a “cinematic snapshot”, which is ironic as this theme is intended to appeal to those who favour sports over the imaginative worls conjured up on the big screen.
43011 Lionel Messi – Football Highlights, 500 pieces
Lionel Andrés Messi plays as a forward for Inter Miami and the Argentina national team – he is captain for both teams. Back in 2016, Messi was found guilty of tax fraud.
“Similar to football, LEGO play is all about building and rebuilding, trying new things, learning from mistakes and celebrating successes,” Messi said. “I love how these LEGO sets bring my on-pitch moments to life in a fun and imaginative way. I’m thrilled for fans to explore the magic of football through these sets and together celebrate the sport we all love.”
43012 Cristiano Ronaldo – Football Highlights, 490 pieces
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, nicknamed CR7, plays as a forward for Al-Nassr (a Saudi Pro League club) and the Portugal national team. He is captain for both teams. In 2009, he paid $375,000 as part of a confidentiality agreement and settlement to Kathryn Mayorga, who had made allegations against him.
“It’s not every day you get to be transformed into a LEGO set! I’m incredibly honoured to be part of this new lineup of LEGO Editions, alongside three other incredible players in the sport,” Ronaldo said. “I’m looking forward to seeing fans from all over the world discover my story and sporting heritage by building this LEGO set, blending football and creativity.”

43013 Kylian Mbappé – Football Highlights, 490 pieces
Kylian Mbappé Lottin plays as a forward for La Liga club Real Madrid and is the captain of the France national team.
“Football has taught me to dream big and to constantly push my limits,” Mbappé said in reaction to the model. “This LEGO set tells part of my story, but above all it captures the energy and creativity that make this sport so special. It’s a fun way to share my journey and my passion. If it can inspire young people to believe in their ambitions, build their own path, and enjoy creating along the way, then that’s a true victory.”
43027 Vini Jr – Football Highlights, 510 pieces
Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior, nicknamed Vini Jr., plays as a forward for La Liga club Real Madrid and the Brazil national team.
“Football is all about passion and creativity, and seeing my style captured in LEGO bricks is truly exciting. Just like on the field, these sets allow fans to explore new moves and celebrate the energy of the game,” said Vini Jr. “I hope they inspire everyone to build their own football dreams.”
Then the two Football Legend sets build a statue of the player in question, with a bespoke face element for each footballer. As well as the figure, the set features a base and backdrop, making each model a complete display piece.
43015 Lionel Messi – Football Legend, 958 pieces
There are two ways to build the set – either Messi running while dribbling the ball or in his victory pose.
43016 Cristiano Ronaldo – Football Legend, 854 pieces
There are two ways to build the set – Ronaldo can be on his “siiiuuu” pose or doing a bicycle kick.
43018 Lionel Messi – Celebration, 1,427 pieces
Messi fans will have the most expensive basket at LEGO.com, as 43018 Lionel Messi – Celebration creates a wall art piece that depicts Messi in his signature victory pose, pointing toward the sky. As with the other sets, references to the player are promised throughout the build.
