LEGO Pirates is back – well, sort of. The classic theme delighted children of the 1990s and 31387 Iconic Pirate Ship captures the same spirit of swashbuckling adventure. The main model builds a ship with brick-built sails, using lots of sideways building to craft the hull.  Features include a moving anchor, posable sails, two firing cannons, a sea monster with posable tentacles, a cabin with a desk and chair, a moving ship’s wheel, a secret compartment, a treasure chest and a crow’s nest.

There are two alternate build options – two smaller pirate ships or a buccaneer’s castle. The set includes four pirate minifigures and a skeleton.

Adult fans may also want to consider the epic and intricately designed 10365 Captain Jack Sparrows Pirate Ship inspired by Pirates of the Carribean.

31388 Wild Animals: Family of Koalas

There’s nothing like this bear (it’s not a bear). LEGO Creator has been delivering detailed animal models for years now, but 31388 Wild Animals: Family of Koalas might be the most intricate yet. The scale model constructs a section of tree with a koala and its baby climbing the plant, with insects perching on the leaves.

The set can be rebuilt into a posable kangaroo with its baby with two parrots, or a sea turtle and its baby swimming above coral and underwater plants. This is likely to delight fans of sets like 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy and 21376 Orange Cat.

The brick menagerie grows with 31393 Forest Animals: Grey Wolf, which unsurprisingly builds a howling grey wolf, which also features a small outcrop for its front paws and a orange hued plant. It rebuilds into a majestic falcon with movable wings or a cute raccoon with a small pear.

31386 Wild Animals: Majestic Lion

The core build in 31386 Wild Animals: Majestic Lion is a male lion, with two alternative ways to build with the same bricks – you can also construct a lioness or two lion cubs. Of course, if you get three copies of the set, you can have the full family on display together.

31383 Floral Decor Perfume Bottle

Research suggests that children are ageing out of traditional play earlier than ever – and sets like this one seem to be responding to such information. 31383 Floral Decor Perfume Bottle is ‘inspired by fashion and beauty’. It builds a perfume bottle and some flowers or can be rebuilt into a vase with flowers or a smoothie in a jar with a handle.

31389 Iconic Ferris Wheel

Pieces: 916
Price: £79.99 / $99.99 / €89.99

The funfair is back in Creator as 31389 Iconic Ferris Wheel delivers the iconic ride with eight carriages. It spins around by turning a handle at the back. It can be rebuilt into a UFO ride, which spins around at an angle or flat, or a carousel with four swings that spread out when it rotates. This isn’t the only new Ferris wheel set, as Friends is offering 42700 Candy & Cupcake Ferris Wheel.
