London’s flagship LEGO Store swaps Harry Potter sets for socks

Given that it’s Dobby’s birthday, LEGO Store Leicester Square is giving anyone who turns up with a sock 76421 Dobby the House-Elf for free.

Harry Potter’s beloved Dobby celebrates his fictional birthday today (fictional characters have fictional birthdays after all), so LEGO Store Leicester Square is giving 100 76421 Dobby the House-Elf sets away. The first 100 customers to flash a clean sock will get the set.

Fans were queuing up at the LEGO Store this morning, as is common at the tourist destination, and were lucky enough to be encouraged to wave a sock in exchange for the LEGO Harry Potter set.

76421 Dobby the House-Elf is one of the new Harry Potter sets for 2023 and builds a statue of the diminutive character. 76414 Expecto Patronum is another similar style of model as Harry Potter continues to offer different types of LEGO sets. Later this year, 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds will go to the other end of the scale spectrum.

Here’s the LEGO.com official description for 76421 Dobby the House-Elf:

The instantly recognizable brick-built figure has a posable head for different looks, and posable arms and fingers so Dobby can hold the included iconic accessories. There is a detailed buildable model of Harry Potter’s sock with Tom Riddle’s diary that Harry used to set Dobby free and Aunt Petunia’s ‘floating’ pudding cake to inspire memories of classic scenes.
