LEGO Wallace & Gromit set officially announced

Wallace & Gromit is going to become an official LEGO building set featuring the beloved British characters, with the model inspired by a fan’s design.

Crackers Gromit! LEGO Ideas is in the invention workshop to bring the beloved British stop-motion classic to life as an upcoming set in LEGO Ideas.

Wallace & Gromit is a claymation franchise originally created by Nick Park and brought to life by a team of stop-motion animators at Aardman Animations. Wallace fancies himself as the world’s greatest inventor but his creations often go haywire, leading his beloved pooch, Gromit, to usually have to come to the rescue.

Their escapades with crazy inventions and even evil penguins inspired fan designer Pidelium to submit this design for the LEGO Ideas 90s Throwback – The Next Chapter challenge and it’s just been announced as the winner. The challenge aimed to celebrate TV shows and movies that shaped the 1990s and that had a lasting cultural impact. And it’s fair to say that with their love of cheese an properly brewed tea, Wallace & Gromit are still British comedy icons to this day.

Gromit, who is based off a beagle, is the star of the regular Gromit Unleashed charity art trails that takes place in Bristol to raise money for the Wallace & Gromit Grand Appeal. His iconic silhouette is turned into eighty statues that are then painted and decorated by a wide variety of artists. It’s coming back this summer for the third time as part of sculpture-spotting fun from 30 June to 31 August 2025 across the streets of Bristol.

Wallace & Gromit’s legacy has also inspired another adventure with their arch-nemesis, evil penguin mastermind Feathers McGraw, in Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. It originally aired as a holiday special last year but is available to watch now on Netflix. With the recent resurgence of the iconic duo, it’s the perfect time to announce this upcoming LEGO Ideas model.

“To be faithful to the spirit of the beloved films, this unique model captures both the retro charm of a bygone-era vehicle and the quirky humour that defines the iconic duo,” explained Pidelium on Ideas. “The motorcycle with sidecar, featuring a colourful and detailed design, faithfully recreates the one seen on screen. The Wallace and Gromit characters, fully constructed from bricks, are carefully assembled to replicate their iconic silhouettes and expressions.”

This is alongside the upcoming LEGO Ideas X-Files model, which has been announced as the other winner of the LEGO Ideas 90s Throwback Challenge. Two more LEGO Ideas sets based on classic pop-culture are coming sometime in 2026 as Tintin and Godzilla were approved in the latest review.
