The latest LEGO Ideas challenge, A Night to Remember in The Shire, is inspired by The Lord of the Rings and tasks builders with designing the ultimate Hobbit birthday party.
A Night to Remember in The Shire is the latest LEGO Ideas challenge, asking builders to take the general idea of Bilbo Baggins’ birthday party from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and turning it into something they’d like to see as their own birthday party in The Shire.
The contest is open now and will run through August 6, 2025. From there, the builds will be evaluated, go to a fan vote and the winners will be announced on September 22, 2025.
One grand prize winner will receive a dragon’s hoard of LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings sets: 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire and 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook. All three sets will be signed by ‘a LEGO designer’.
Upgrade your LEGO hobby! If you take out a subscription to Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, you’ll get each issue first and at a discount, plus other perks including a free digital subscription and the chance to win LEGO prizes every month.

Two runner-up winners will receive 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire and 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook. These will be unsigned, but still a very worthwhile prize. Then two other finalists rounding out the top five will each receive a copy of 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook.
There aren’t any real restrictions on what you can build for the challenge, so long as it fits within The Lord of the Rings world and qualifies as some sort of birthday party. Per the challenge page, your inspiration can be second breakfast, fireworks or a grand adventure. The build just has to be a diorama and be made entirely of LEGO elements. It also can’t contain any references to other properties — the contest page oddly calls out The Hunger Games as an example of what to avoid — nor can it contain minifigures from other licensed themes, but generic LEGO minifigures are okay to include.
You’ll have until August 6 to design the ultimate Shire party. LEGO Ideas experts will then review each submission based on ‘coolness’, originality, detail, relevance and creative use of LEGO elements. The five finalists will go to a fan vote on August 25 and remain up for voting until September 8. LEGO Ideas members can vote once for their favourite build. The winners will be announced on September 22.
