LEGO Masters is returning to UK screens for a Christmas special, with Nish Kumar, Matthew Ashton and Amy Corbett joined by celebrity contestants – and you can read an exclusive preview in Blocks, the LEGO magazine for fans.
This Christmas Eve, Channel 4 is bringing back LEGO Masters UK with a fresh new look. Comedian Nish Kumar is on hosting duties, with LEGO Head of Design Matthew Ashton and Senior Design Manager Amy Corbett judging the festive creations in a Christmas special that will put the brick-building skills of celebrities to the test.
You can read exclusive interviews with Nish, Matthew and Amy in Blocks magazine’s LEGO Masters Christmas Special preview. The latest magazine, Issue 98, contains the feature and is available to order now. It’s a great way to start a subscription, but act quickly – prices will increase on December 1, so you only have until November 30 to get the lower price.
‘I have missed this so much,’ Matthew told Blocks as part of the exclusive preview. ‘I’ve been itching to get back in the build room for several years; this has been an amazing opportunity. It definitely did not disappoint.’

In the LEGO Masters Christmas edition, three teams will compete; singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor with her sons; comedians Alex Horne and Sophie Duker; and television personality Scarlett Moffatt with her father and sister. First they’re going to have build a wearable LEGO item and then fuill in a snow globe with a holiday scene. Given that these are not expert AFOL builders, it’s safe to assume that there’ll be a few spilt bricks.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor had huge success as a singer in the early 2000s, when her album Read My Lips made it to number two in the charts and made her a household name. Comedian Alex Horne leads the Horne Section and is a familiar face from Taskmaster, while Sophie Duker is an acclaimed stand-up who regularly appears on Frankie Boyle’s New World Order. Scarlett Moffatt’s television career started on Gogglebox, which has led to many other appearances including being voted the winner on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.
LEGO Head of Design Matthew Ashton has worked on some of the company’s biggest successes, including Collectible Minifigures, The LEGO Movie and recently 40516 Everyone is Awesome. He recently guest edited Blocks magazine’s 100 Incredible LEGO Builds special. Senior Design Manager Amy Corbett launched LEGO DOTS and leads the product team working on that theme. Comedian Nish Kumar is a mainstay on the stand-up circuit and hosted The Mash Report for four years.
