The LEGO Group has announced that Edward Scissorhands is going to become a minifigure as part of an upcoming LEGO set inspired by the classic Tim Burton movie.
LEGO Edward Scissorhands is on the way, bringing another Tim Burton movie to the brick, following models like 76139 1989 Batmobile and 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Edward Scissorhands was released in 1990 and was a breakout role for Johnny Depp, who playes the titular character.
After his creator passes and leaves him stranded, Edward Scissorhands is taken in by the kindly Peg who offers him a new home. But just as Edward is settling into his new reality and navigating life as an experiment with scissors for hands, he’s blamed for a crime he didn’t commit. This classic gothic romance by Tim Burton is a cult classic that delves into the themes of isolation and self discovery.

As a huge fan of Tim Burton, both as a director and writer, Castor-Troy submitted the build to the LEGO Ideas platform and thanks to the movie’s enduring popularity it easily made it to 10,000 votes from other users. Since then it had been under review by the LEGO Group to see if it would be realised as an official product, alongside the record-breaking 146 entires within this review.
And now fans can rediscover the nostalgia of this sweeping nineties romance as it is officially becoming a LEGO Ideas model. Based on the wintry castle where Edward hides away the same location set used in Burton’s Batman films, the submission is imbued with gothic elegance. “For this challenge I wanted to recreate Edward’s castle because all the magic is here. The first meeting of Peg, the landscaped garden, the mythical scene of the hands offered by the inventor,” explains fan designer Castor-Troy. “It was difficult work because there is not much representation and few images of the castle from all angles, so I had to try my best.”

While the model will change as the professional LEGO model designers adapt it, the fan concept features several minifigures, from Edward’s original costume to the clothing he wears once Peg takes him in. There is also the possibility that the director himself may appear with his film camera, though it’s more likely that the finished design will focus entirely on the movie, just like 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
This has been announced alongside the upcoming LEGO Ideas Amsterdam Canal Houses, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and The Old Man and The Sea. One more LEGO Ideas set is possibly coming in the future, as Lunch Atop A Skyscraper has been placed in the Parking Lot.
The theme has a stacked slate, with lots of models coming later this year and throughout 2027, including The X-Files, Wallace & Gromit, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Downton Abbey, La Catrina, Ramen, Smurf Village and Go Go Power Rangers! Megazord.
