Grab your bikes and get ready to fly across the Moon, LEGO Ideas has announced that E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is landing soon as an official building set.
LEGO E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is blasting onto shelves in an official set inspired by the classic movie from Steven Spielberg. Fans have been able to get an E.T. minifigure before, in LEGO Dimensions 71285 E.T. Fun Pack, but this is the first time the character will be able as a buildable sculpture like 21361 Gremlins: Gizmo or 75430 Wicket the Ewok.
E.T. was a smash hit when it was released in 1982, as audiences connected with the heartwarming tale of a lost alien connecting with a boy called Elliot. The two work together to ‘phone home’ and find E.T.’s family, while outrunning the scientists who want to study the little alien.

Richard Lemeiter submitted the builds to the LEGO Ideas platform and thanks to the movie’s enduring popularity it easily made it to 10,000 votes from other users. Since then it had been under review by the LEGO Group to see if it would be realised as an official product.
The fan concept focuses on E.T. himself as he holds the sunflower that he heals for Elliot and Gertie. Richard’s model features a posable head, arms, hands and feet, as well as a function that allows his neck to extend just like in the film. While the model will undergo changes during the design process, hopefully it will still retain these quintessential characteristics when it is released sometime in 2026 or early 2027.
“Young or old, we have all been touched by this little being,” says Richard, a LEGO fan who is obsessed with all things LEGO Space. “There’s something universal and timeless about E.T. I was just ten years old when I first saw the film and it became engraved in my mind at a time when space was one of my main interests. Watching it again at different points in my life, I discover a new message each time and the emotion remains intact.”

Five more sets have been announced, including Downton Abbey, La Catrina, Ramen, Smurf Village and Go Go Power Rangers! Megazord! Three more – Daft Punk Concert, The Old Man & The Sea and The Golden Girls – have been put into the Parking Lot for further consideration.
