LEGO Daft Punk set coming in 2027

The LEGO Group has announced that a new Daft Punk set will launch in 2027, as part of a broader collaboration that will include content and marketing activities.

A new collaboration has been announced between the LEGO Group and Daft Punk, that will see the first official LEGO DAFT PUNK set, inspired by fan builder Patrick Harboun, released next year.

To kick things off, the LEGO Group has released an animated clip that sees the Daft Punk minifigures following a holographic red brick through a mysterious landscape. Once the robots reach the gates of play, the holographic world reveals itself around them, as everything expands until the duo are behind a brick-built console.

For the first piece of marketing from this new partnership, the LEGO Group and Daft Punk went through the back catalogue to find the right music. The short clip’s soundtrack features Voyager and Human After All, the title track from their 2005 album.

The LEGO Group promises a LEGO set and “more to come in 2027”. The model will create a brick-built version of the pyramid from the 2007 ALIVE tour. Fans will hope that it includes physical minifigures of the iconic duo.

Patrick Harboun created the model that will inspire the official set. LEGO Ideas is a platform where anyone can share their models in the hope that they will become official sets. Patrick’s Daft Punk creation was voted on by 10,000 fans and has been adapted for the final version by professional LEGO designers. The set spent time in the parking lot as the LEGO Group assessed its viability.

Daft Punk has cropped up on the platform many times and fans have responded positively again and again.

“This project began in 2020 as a fun father-son collaboration, growing into something epic as we found ourselves needing a creative escape during lockdown,” Patrick wrote alongside his submission.

“Both huge Daft Punk fans, this build is a fusion of two passions. I spent my teenage years listening to Homework on my Walkman, while my son’s first favourite baby song was Get Lucky. It felt only natural to blend our love for Daft Punk’s music with our love for LEGO [bricks].”

Daft Punk are icons of electro, having made a huge impact throughout the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. They are iconic for their robot costumes and revered for their four albums – Homework (1997), Discovery (2001), Human After All (2005) and Random Access Memories (2013).

The French duo memorably composed tracks for Tron: Legacy and collaborated with Pharrell Williams on Random Access Memories. They have changed perceptions of genre by taking influence from house music, funk, disco, techno, rock and synth-pop.

“The pyramid stage is one of the most recognisable expressions of Daft Punk’s visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be centre stage of this partnership,” says Daft Punk Creative Director Cédric Hervet. “Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk’s story, and we are excited to see that creativity reflected through the LEGO universe.”
