75308 R2-D2 is releasing the character for the first time in nine years as a stand-alone set. The functional model of the beep-booping bot comes with an exclusive 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm brick. A special function built using a complex Technic interior allows the middle leg to be deployed, so the droid can be displayed in two or three legged mode. There are also three extending gadgets and Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber hidden within R2’s body.
To find out about the set’s design and how the character came to life in the Star Wars movies, check out Blocks magazine Issue 79 and our exclusive feature all about R2-D2.
