LEGO 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron helmet revealed

The latest set from Middle-earth is Sauron’s helmet, depicted in a new The Lord of the Rings set that is more budget friendly than other recent Tolkien models.

LEGO Icons has unveiled the latest set inspired by Peter Jackson’s epic adaptation of Tolkien’s sprawling fantasy saga. 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron is coming on March 1, 2026. It will be made up of 538 LEGO elements and retail for £64.99 / $69.99 / €74.99.

Like the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection, the set features a buildable black display stand that you will likely construct first, before adding sections that made up the actual skull-like helmet. The set also features a decorated tile naming the character as Sauron and the same minifigure of the villain that first came in 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr.

The Lord of the Rings originally came to the LEGO portfolio as a full theme back in 2012, before disappearing for many years after the release of The Hobbit movies. It made an epic return at minifigure scale in 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, which was followed up by 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr and 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire.

Icons has mixed up the format before 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron though, as 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook is designed as a model to slot between the books on your shelves.

“In the movies there are just short cuts of the Sauron helmet,” said LEGO Senior Model Designer Jae Won Lee, unveiling the set during LEGO Fan Media Days 2025. “We needed the proper reference images of Sauron’s helmet. We asked the IP partner and they supplied very nice images.”

He thought about how fans would display the set alongside the Star Wars helmets. “We thought about the size and proportions. It is very important to the collection. This is almost the same scale with the other helmet series.”

When discussing the colour scheme for the set within the team, Jae ultimately decided that a single shade of grey was the way to go. “We don’t have the metallic colours in all the elements. We decided just one colour is more unique to this helmet. If we provided all the grey colours, make the shades, the shadows, it is not as good for the display.”
