Free LEGO Star Wars lightsaber model at UK LEGO Stores

UK LEGO Stores will offer a LEGO Star Wars lightsaber make-and-take event in March, giving fans a chance to build a free LEGO model.

A free LEGO Star Wars lightsaber build will be available at UK LEGO Stores in early March. Dates and times are:

  • March 7 from 10.00am to 12.00pm
  • March 8 from 12.00pm to 2.00pm

Make-and-take builds are as they sound — LEGO models that fans can build in LEGO Stores and then take home with them, at no charge. The model is free, and you don’t have to purchase any other sets to get it like you do with gift-with-purchase items.

It is coming just a week after the launch of LEGO SMART Play, so if you do want to pick up Star Wars sets, there will be plenty to choose from. Of course you may prefer to wait for the new sets for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu:

Quantities are limited on each day, so if you’re eager to get your hands on the build, it’s best to arrive early on the day you choose. It’s also limited to one per person, so family members can each build a model, but you won’t be able to build more than one… no General Grievous antics here.

10+ is the age rating for the event, so fans of all ages can partake. Those under the age of 10 are welcome to build a model as well — they may just require assistance.

All UK LEGO Stores will host the event, excluding the following locations:

  • LEGO Store Belfast
  • LEGO Store Birmingham – Utilita Arena
  • LEGO Store LEGOLAND Windsor Resort
  • LEGO Store Manchester – Trafford Palazzo

The mini lightsaber build looks to be about 30 pieces, so it won’t be close to a full-scale replica, but should be a fun bonus for LEGO Store visitors and a novel addition to a LEGO Star Wars collection. All the essential details are represented on the hilt, including the activator switch and some greebling, while the blue blade is created via some trans-blue cylinder elements. The blade is a little short compared to the hilt, making this lightsaber more like a lightdagger, but still a fun model.

Details for the event at each store should match the information above, but if you have any questions regarding the event, it’s best to contact your local LEGO Store. This event has not been announced for any stores outside of the UK at this time.
