Will there be an exclusive LEGO KPop Demon Hunters album?

LEGO KPop Demon Hunters is coming – sets are confirmed, but will there also be the most appropriate collectible of all… a special edition album?

In the K-pop world, new albums, often referred to as comebacks, tend to feature a vast range of variants. This includes vinyl editions, accordion albums, mini-albums and more. There are already plenty of options for the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack because the songs have been sop popualr since the movie took Netflix by storm last summer.

Now that LEGO KPop Demon Hunters is on the way, there is the tanatalising possibility of a special album design featuring brick depictions of the characters – whether as minifigures, mini-dolls or represented in some other way.

KPop Demon Hunters has surpassed 500 million views on Netflix since last June and the catchy songs have been just as successful as the animated feature itself. They dominated the K-pop charts for weeks, even outperforming BTS and Stray Kids. While My Little Soda Pop and Your Idol are fan favourites, Golden took the world by storm. Golden by HUNTR/X is the first K-pop song by a girl group to reach number one on the Billboards Hot 100, as well as being the first K-pop song to be nominated for a Grammy award.

It was only a few weeks later that Netflix announced a physical media release for the soundtrack (yes, Netflix, ironic) and an updated version with the full orchestral version was soon added to music streaming platforms. Right now there are several albums available for fans to purchase. There’s a classic vinyl with all of the songs and main theme suite, then there’s an array of 7 inch coloured vinyls celebrating the different aesthetics of HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys.

Beyond those, there are retailer exclusives that unique CD box art and photocards. Given that variants are so embraced by the fandom, it would be really fun if the LEGO Group and Netflix released one that celebrates the collaboration. A LEGO version of the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack could have box art with either minifigure or mini-doll artwork inspired by the movie poster. Alternatively, it could have a brick-built depiction of the characters, perhaps following the template of early LEGO Art sets.

The vinyl record itself could feature LEGO brick colours or print it with some kind of brick pattern using the purple pastel colours associated with HUNTR/X.

The photocards truly make K-pop albums special. They are collectible trading cards featuring photos of the group members and a random assortment is included in every album. All of the KPop Demon Hunters albums include photocards and LEGO variants could feature minifigure or mini-doll versions of HUNTR/X or the Saja Boys. Pictures of a brick-built version of Derpy and Sussie would be fun.

The collectibility of albums increase because fans want a full set of the cards. An album could even come with a recruitment bag, a LEGO KPop Demon Hunters inspired mini-build or exclusive minifigure. Some K-pop albums come with plushies or keyrings, so a physical item is certainly possible.

Who wouldn’t want to put on a LEGO version of the soundtrack while building the new KPop Demon Hunters sets?
