Zelda fans can finally build the epic adventure – 77902 The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set is coming later this year.
The LEGO Group has announced 77902 The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set, which builds the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The bricks in the box can build either model but only one version can be built at a time.
The 2,500 piece set is available to pre-order now and will launch on September 1. It’s priced at £299.,909 in the UK, $259.99 in the US and €259.99 in Europe.
Scenes and moments from both The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) are references in the set. The Master Sword pedestal from Breath of the Wild and Link’s House from Ocarina of Time are two inclusions that will delight fans of the games.
The Breath of the Wild model incorporates a lever so that the Great Deku Tree’s face can be animated and features pink blossoms, while the Ocarina of Time Great Deku Tree version has an opening mouth – inside there’s a lurking Skulltula – and is adorned with green foliage.
Upgrade your LEGO hobby! If you take out a subscription to Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, you’ll get each issue first and at a discount, plus other perks including a free digital subscription and the chance to win LEGO prizes every month.
Four minifigures come in the set – Princess Zelda and Link as seen in Breath of the Wild, along with Young Link and Link from Ocarina of Time. There are buildable characters and creatures too – Hestu the Korok, several smaller Koroks, Deku Babas, Navi the Fairy, the Deku Sprout and a Skulltula.
“I’m really thrilled that The Legend of Zelda is joining the world of LEGO bricks, which has spurred the creative impulses of so many people of all ages,” says The Legend of Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma. “The Deku Tree was the first element from The Legend of Zelda we wanted to represent using LEGO bricks. I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to build this part of The Legend of Zelda world with their own hands.”
“Our fans have been asking for a LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda series for a while so we were delighted to work with Nintendo to create the Great Deku Tree in brick form,” adds LEGO Designer Wes Talbott. “As a fan of the franchise, it was great to work on this set and fill it with details and references from the games. I’m also glad we managed to offer the choice to build one of two versions to appeal to many Zelda fans. I can’t wait to see the fans reaction to this set.”
