Six LEGO Wicked: For Good sets launching this autumn

LEGO Wicked is flying back to shelves in September with six new sets ahead of Wicked: For Good releasing in November. It’s a varied batch of LEGO sets, including glittering wall art, a pair of BrickHeadz and four new play models.

Fans of LEGO Wicked are going to have plenty of new sets to choose from come September 1. Six new Wicked: For Good boxes are on the way, with a mix of sets for younger and older fans:

All six sets will be releasing on September 1 at LEGO.com, approximately two months before Wicked: For Good hits cinemas in November, in addition to 75691 Glinda & Elphaba Bookends. Read on for descriptions and full images of all the new sets…

40794 Elphaba & Glinda Figures

40794 Elphaba & Glinda Figures is the wave’s obligatory BrickHeadz set, coming with 325 pieces for £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99. For fans who love BrickHeadz, this is sure to be an attractive offering that won’t break the bank. Fans of Wicked who aren’t into the BrickHeadz line may find something to like, but the two figures aren’t likely to change any previous opinions about the stylised characters.

75685 Emerald City Wall Art

75685 Emerald City Wall Art is perhaps the most surprising of the wave, and certainly the most unique. The set will come with 1,518 pieces for £139.99 / $159.99 / €149.99 and continue the line of LEGO Art sets targeted at adult collectors. Similar in style to the likes of 31215 Vincent van GoghSunflowers, it’s a 3D picture of the Emerald City in all its colourful glory.  What sets it apart from other LEGO Art sets, however, is the inclusion of minifigures. Seven figures populate the set, including Glinda and Elphaba, plus the classic cast of The Wizard of Oz, who live in a secret compartment underneath Munchkinland (though they can be displayed separately on an included stand as well).

75687 Elphaba’s Retreat

75687 Elphaba’s Retreat is the smallest set at 228 pieces, priced at £19.99 / $27.99 / €24.99. It includes two mini-doll characters, Elphaba and Fiyero, along with the titular retreat. Despite the low piece count, it manages to deliver organic shaping, but it appears to be a solid offering at a fairly reasonable price point.

75688 Glinda’s Wedding Day

75688 Glinda’s Wedding Day just about doubles the piece count of 75687 Elphaba’s Retreat, coming with 476 pieces for a price of £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99. The higher price point and piece count does yield a larger build, bookended by two giant butterflies, though the mini-doll count remains the same, with just two: Glinda and Madame Morrible. Glinda comes with an alternate head piece to match her shock when the included animals start spoiling the wedding.

75689 Emerald City & Kiamo Ko Castle

75689 Emerald City & Kiamo Ko Castle is set to come with 860 pieces for £74.99 / $79.99 / €79.99. It features two separate models, one of the Emerald City and one of Kiamo Ko Castle. Each are built at a scale that balances between micro scale and mini-doll compatibility, shrinking the facades down to work as a smaller set while the interiors have mini-doll-sized details for play. And two seems to be the magic number when it comes to the mini-doll roster of these new LEGO Wicked sets — Glinda and Elphaba are the only mini-dolls here, though a flying monkey figure is included as well, bumping the overall figure total up to three. This is the first time a flying monkey has appeared in a LEGO Wicked set.

75690 Glinda & Elphaba Visit Munchkinland

75690 Glinda & Elphaba Visit Munchkinland is the final set, coming with 744 pieces for £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99. The set includes a main building, complete with a flowering roof and spire, as well as a small side bit of terrain for Glinda to land on. A whopping three mini-dolls are included here: Elphaba, Glinda and Boq. There’s a respectable amount of interior space given the set’s size, featuring a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
