LEGO Minifigures 71052 Series 29 has been revealed, and there are figures sure to get any LEGO fan excited, from NINJAGO to BIONICLE.
LEGO Minifigures 71052 Series 29 is made up of 12 mystery characters, individually priced at £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99, all releasing on May 1, 2026, on LEGO.com.
The unlicensed Collectible Minifigures series are still going strong, inching closer to the 30th series, more than 15 years since Series 1 started it all in 2010. But the wait for that big number doesn’t mean 71052 Series 29 is anything to scoff at — there are quite a few characters that will have LEGO fans scrambling to get their hands on the new set of mystery boxes.
Two characters are likely to grab fans’ attention more than the rest — Mysterious Ronin and Bionicle Cosplayer. Mysterious Ronin is a not-so-subtle version of Lloyd from NINJAGO, complete with blonde hair and green eyes. The design here is something not seen before in LEGO NINJAGO, feeling a bit grittier than some of the theme’s recent ninja outfits. Bionicle Cosplayer is really just a minifigure version of a Toa, coming with a brand-new element to represent the mask. One of the accessories is a Bionicle canister — the theme’s unique packaging — that looks to be modelled after Tahu, just like the figure itself.
Those two figures appear to be the only explicit references to other LEGO themes in this series, though the Monster Hunter could be considered a callback to Monster Hunters, especially with her steampunk-esk design. The Trash Monster isn’t quite a Monster Hunters character, but its grotesque form gives the Monster Hunter enough to stay occupied for a while.

The Robot T. rex is probably the most unique design next to the Trash Monster. It follows a similar overall style to previous costumed characters, with the open mouth revealing the minifigure head underneath, but this is a fully robotic creature — there’s no happy cosplayer underneath the metal scales.
Unicorn Elf and Cute Witch have fantasy’s representation in the series covered. The former is likely known as such because she comes with a unicorn in tow, and the latter is about as accurately named as can be. Her magical assistant is an equally cute grey cat.
Boba Cup Fan is the series’ resident costumed character (though Bionicle Cosplayer technically counts, too). She’s as-described, wearing a sandwich board element that makes her look like a giant cup of boba.
As for the final four, the Football Goalkeeper, Marine Biologist, Tuba Player and Chocolatier are the series’ ‘normal’ characters, the sort who could be slotted into a LEGO City display without the need for a comic convention to come to town. But normal is by no means a criticism; the designs all look solid and the accessories are top-notch. Respectively, they each have a football, a clownfish, (you guessed it) a tuba and a chocolate dragon.
71052 Series 29 is due to release on May 1, 2026. Like all previous series, you won’t be able to purchase just the characters you want and will have to submit to the luck of the draw. Purchasing a pack of six on LEGO.com should guarantee you at least get six different characters, but guarantees with mystery boxes do come with a bit of an asterisk.
“It’s a relatively long process,” says Creative Lead Esa Nousiainen, of how the minifigure lineup is selected. “So we do a lot of concepting during the year leading up to the actual development. We have a lot of tried and tested categories, like sci-fi, fantasy, everyday people, sports, costumes, all of these kinds of things. And we try to populate the lineup always as broadly as possible, covering all of those different categories.
“And then when it comes to the individual figures, that’s also a combination of many things, because we want to have a nice colour balance. So you might have a really cool idea for a figure, but the colour that it would need to be doesn’t really fit, because there is already another character in that colour. And also, of course, some callbacks to older stuff from us, or maybe some anniversaries, like the NINJAGO figure. There are lots of different things that play a role.” This will have to be the last question for you guys. I don’t want to be the evil one.”
