LEGO Ideas Telephone Box and unreleased monorails in Blocks magazine Issue 113

The latest issue of Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, is available now and goes inside the design of 21347 Red London Telephone Box. There’s also a feature on where the monorail could have gone, if the epic transport system had continued.

Issue 113 is available worldwide as part of a subscription or a single issue now and will be in UK stores from March 7.

We’re giving away two 21347 Red London Telephone Box sets! To be in with a chance of winning, take out a subscription before April 3, 2024. You’ll be entered into a new draw every month for the duration of your subscription!

LEGO fan John Cramp built a British icon and submitted it to LEGO Ideas – then his Telephone Box reached 10,000 votes and LEGO Designer Marina Stampoli turned it into 21347 Red London Telephone Box! Find out how John came up with his MOC and how Marina used her brick know-how to make it ready for fans around the world to build.

While the boxy build is fairly pedestrian, 10331 Kingfisher Bird is anything but. Senior Designer Sven Franic talks about getting all of those angles and capturing the natural, irregular shape of a kingfisher in a beautiful Icons set.

On the topic of nature, LEGO House is encouraging guests to make the world a better place with Build the Change. The new attraction takes sustainability topics and asks guests to think of solutions to them in a fun, creative way. LEGO House Head of Experience Søren Bering Andersen reveals how the team came up with the Blue Zone’s new attraction.

There’s one classic piece of LEGO transportation that is universally loved by fans – the monorail. Only a few Town and Space sets using the monorail cars and track were released in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but there was so much more on the drawing board for this system. Blocks has a tantalising peek into an alternate future!

40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad recently introduced micro Classic Space figures! Whether you use one of those tiny characters or the beloved Spacebaby, you can build a modern version of 6824 Space Dart I specifically scaled for these miniaturised astronauts by following a set of exclusive instructions.

That’s just a taste of what’s in Blocks magazine Issue 113 – this month’s 116 pages also contain the real reason stickers are so common, LEGO food that looks good enough to eat, the dangers of bat-obsession and much more.
