11383 Mayor Manor is introducing a new world of mystery to the LEGO Icons theme for adults with a haunted house set that will arrive in time for Halloween.
Launching on September 1, LEGO Icons 11383 Mayor Manor is made up of 1,420 pieces and will be priced at £99.99 / $119.99 / €109.99. It’s a haunted house set designed for grown ups and will debut before the spookiest day of the year – Halloween.
Designed to be eerily spooky and a little bit wonky, the manor’s crooked façade is weathered with age and an old tree twisting itself into the brickwork. The two-storey home embraces a dramatic gothic aesthetic with stained glass windows framing a large set of double doors. A pair of French windows open out onto a wrought-iron balcony on the second floor, while a gargoyle stares down menacingly from the roof.
11383 Mayor Manor also features period-style furnishings inside like a suit of armour, a fireplace, a grandfather clock frozen at midnight, and framed pieces of artwork decorating the walls. It’s home to a group of spooks – the lady of the manor, a butler and a maid who are all have glow-in-the-dark minifigure heads. There’s also a long-haired cat and a rat scurrying around the creepy mansion.
The new LEGO Icons Midnight Valley Collection will be “a series of collectible sets where distorted and asymmetrical constructions create a haunting atmosphere.” If this first model is any indication, it seems that this new series will be focusing on classic spooky locations such as manors, castles, graveyards and more. While it’s clearly a fresh take on all things spooky and paranormal, the overall atmosphere of 11383 Mayor Manor is definitely reminiscent of the beloved Monster Fighters theme from 2012.

Monster Fighters was the first real foray for the LEGO Group into the world of the paranormal, though in a fun and exciting way with a cast of brave investigators trying to collect the magical moonstones before Lord Vampyre used them to create eternal darkness. It featured nine sets from the tiny 9461 The Swamp Creature to the sprawling grounds of 9468 Vampyre Castle. The most fondly remembered though is 10228 The Haunted House, which opened up to reveal a cobwebbed kitchen, haunted attic and an abundance of play features.
That is the set that inspired 31167 Haunted Mansion, with its sand green walls and shuttered windows reminiscent of the Monster Fighters style. There have been other darker, gothic LEGO sets such as 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Wednesday theme, proving that just because something is a little scary doesn’t mean it isn’t fun.
