LEGO Icons 11381 Jaguar E-Type revealed

11381 Jaguar E-Type is bringing the classic British car to the LEGO Icons range for adults, recreating its distinctive design and iconic green colour.

LEGO Icons 11381 Jaguar E-Type is speeding into the Icons garage. It is made up of 1,673 pieces and will retail for £129.99 / $139.99 / €139.99.

This detailed replica of the 77 RW E-Type sports car features its classic green livery across its sleek silhouette and wire-style alloys. Then lifting the bonnet reveals the inline-6 engine inside, with the opening doors and folding roof allowing access to the interior. Inside the cockpit there is a working steering wheel and controls across the dashboard.

The set also includes a five-piece toolkit that fits in the boot of the car, which can open at the push of a button. The Jaguar E-Type debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, so this set honours the 65th anniversary of the iconic sports car. It famously had to be driven more than 700 miles in less than seventeen hours from Coventry to the Parc des Eaux-Vives in Geneva by Jaguar executive Bob Berry – proving the speed of the car as it arrived only 20 minutes before being unveiled to the waiting press.

The E-Type was developed from the Jaguar D-Type which had won the Le Mans race three times between 1955-1957 and while it was initially intended as a racing model, the new car emerged as a road-worthy sports car and touring car instead. After its dramatic unveiling, it became an overnight success and the go-to choice for celebrities during the 1960s. It appeared in classic films of that decade, including How To Steal A Million, in which Audrey Hepburn drives a Jaguar E-Type roadster. It was able to offer top speeds close to 150 mph (241 km/h) with its six-cylinder XK engine, which is one of the key details included in 11381 Jaguar E-Type

Originally available in two styles, the open two-seater or fastback fixed head coupé, LEGO Icons 11381 Jaguar E-Type is based on the former two-seater design. A new textile element is incorporated into the roof to allow it to fold backwards just like on the real car, opening up the cockpit to feel the power of the wind.

Its heritage lived on in 2021 when two updated models of the classic car were unveiled, available in Flat Out Grey and Drop Everything Green in tribute to its original dash to Geneva. Almost visually identical to the classic silhouette, the paintwork was chosen to be as similar as possible to the original ones used in the sixties. So 11381 Jaguar E-Type can pay homage to both designs through its striking dark green pieces. LEGO Icons 11381 Jaguar E-Type will roar onto shelves on August 1, 2026.
