LEGO big builds are back with Supersized Minion Tim

The LEGO Group has announced a new range of supersized LEGO sets, launching with 75553 Supersized Minion Tim from the Despicable Me franchise.

75553 Supersized Minion Tim will be the first in a new range of supersized LEGO sets for fans who want the very biggest builds on display (and presumably have the biggest wallets to pay for them). This unique set measures 2.5 metres tall and uses 102,213 LEGO bricks. The box dimensions alone are a staggering 170 x 80 x 65 centimetres.

The press release declares: ‘These commanding display pieces will take weeks to complete and take up more space in your home than is practical but they will be HUGE talking points when guests come round.’

It’s actually not the first time that the LEGO Group has offered enormous display models – in the early days of LEGO Star Wars, life-sized  Darth Vader and Jango Fett were available to buy for $10,000 each – although they came pre-assembled and glued.

Despicable Me and Minions movies have also been covered in LEGO models before, as 75551 Brick-built Minions and their Lair launched a short-lived theme in 2020.

Pricing details and release date have not been announced at this time.
