Do you need a sweet holiday treat for your LEGO collection? Then find out everything you need to know about 40642 Gingerbread Ornaments.
Gingerbread. One of the most popular Christmas bakes, at this time of year there’s the smell of warm spices and sugar wafting through kitchens everywhere. They can be any shape, decorated in any way and put on a tree or as a centrepiece to a cookie feast. Just like the brick ones in 40642 Gingerbread Ornaments!

Okay, so these gingerbread LEGO characters aren’t edible, but they are customisable. Each one is built onto a frame that actually starts off as an odd assortment of grey plates, yet it’s quickly covered in angled bricks and medium nougat 3×3 quarter circles for a classic gingerbread colour. The dark backing helps the decorations blend into a traditionally green tree but if you have a different coloured tree, like a white or blue one, then you might want to consider swapping them out to match so that the decorations match the branch colour.
Don’t forget that Blocks magazine makes a great last-minute Christmas gift!

From there the gingerbread people are decorated using tiles, ice cream cones, and a selection of LEGO shapes. The instructions give some base ideas but the only limit is your imagination. There’s not a ton of extra bricks in 40642 Gingerbread Ornaments, which is slightly disappointing, so having some spares handy is helpful if there’s a particular family member or Christmas character you want to recreate.
Blocks even has a great stocking filler for you to check out!

The recent attachment ring elements from DOTS are included to hang them on a tree, plus the rings can be folded down so that the gingerbread can be displayed standing on a flat surface too. 40642 Gingerbread Ornaments delivers all the cookie sweetness without any of the baking mess.
SCORE: 50/100
VERDICT: This set does what is says on the cookie tin, though some extra pieces for decorating would have sweetened the deal.
