With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor out for over a month, receiving rave reviews from gamers, LEGO fans might be waiting a while for sets…
After the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, its sequel is continuing the story of Cal Kestis as he fights against the tyranny of the Empire. Considering the success of the previous game, the LEGO designers have only created one set for it – 75335 BD-1. That’s Cal’s best friend and the plucky droid acts as a helping hand throughout both games. So, why are there so few sets from either title? Do the LEGO designers just not like video games?
Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, is exploring some of the reasons for a shortage of Star Wars video game inspired sets. And don’t worry, there are no spoilers for Jedi: Survivor.

Actually, spoilers is a great place to start on why there are not more LEGO Star Wars sets based on Fallen Order or Survivor. These are very story driven games, following Cal’s journey from Padawan to Jedi Knight, and it’s hard to find elements of these games that won’t spoil something, even if it’s minor. It could be argued that sets based on the Star Wars films are the same – some people completely avoid LEGO sets before a new film release – but if anything the secrecy around the game plots is even higher.
This is because these are not particularly easy games to play (unless you put it on story mode). You’re probably looking at over 15 hours of gameplay, possibly more if you get distracted by side quests. Finding time to play for so long on a console can be difficult, especially balancing this next to work or family, so Fallen Order and Survivor could take many weeks for a player to finish. Social media is already filled with spoilery screen-shares that fans are trying to avoid, and adding LEGO sets into the mix would only add to this stress.

With this long gameplay ahead for so many fans, along with others waiting for the game to be reduced in price, the LEGO designers are clearly going to be holding off on Jedi: Survivor sets for a while. What this doesn’t explain is why Fallen Order only has one set. 75355 BD-1 is massively popular, selling out multiple times as fans now play Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. There have been many LEGO fans posting the set next to their console or gaming set-ups, happy to have their own BD-1 buddy by their side as they play.
And it’s not just BD-1 who’s popular. Hasbro have brought back the Cal Kestis Black Series figures, while Funko are sold out of the matching Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Pop! Vinyls. All of these characters are special to Star Wars gamers, and with Fallen Order available for several years, there’s not much left to spoil. As the story stretches over seven planets, including ones seen in the films like Kashyyyk, there is plenty that could possibly inspire more sets. Ever since a minifigure sized BD-1 was included alongside his brick-built version, fans have been hoping for a matching Cal Kestis.

If the designers still want to be cautious about spoilers though, then one of the best ways to bring both games to life in LEGO is through the Stinger Mantis. More often just called the Mantis, this is the ship that doubles as a home for Cal and his crew, seen in every gameplay trailer. Nothing dramatic happens on the Mantis itself, and it would allow for a full cast of minifigures, from Merrin to Greez.
