With the announcement of yet another Avengers: Endgame inspired set, Blocks is taking a look at why 76266 Endgame Final Battle is actually really special…
As Thanos and his army swarm the assembled Avengers, Earth’s mightiest heroes, and everyone else who jumped through a magic portal to help, the endgame is approaching. Nearly in possession of the gauntlet that could wipe out life forever, the heroes desperately try to stop Thanos from clicking his fingers … again.
Now this incredible scene has inspired numerous LEGO Marvel sets and minifigures, all of which attempt to recreate different elements of the fight. However, 76266 Endgame Final Battle is much different from the rest for one simple reason – it focusses solely on the incredible women superheroes who help defeat Thanos. This is a set that’s not only a great display piece, but that’s a symbol of female empowerment.
This empowering message isn’t part of the set description. It isn’t called out, which is actually refreshing. 76266 is not trying to check boxes or be a symbol through some bandwagon marketing. It simply exists as a wonderful set that celebrates these superheroes and their strength, just like the scene itself in Endgame.
As the Scarlet Witch, Wanda is one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse. Known as a nexus being because she has the same power throughout each different reality, Wanda is managing to fight through her grief. After losing Vision to Thanos she wants revenge, and she pours all her grief-fuelled rage into stopping Thanos.
Shooting through the air and obliterating the ships of the Kree, Captain Marvel arrives at a pivotal moment in Endgame. Without her arrival the team would have taken massive losses to the laser weapons on each ship. Captain Marvel’s powers literally come from absorbing energy and she delivers some of the most devastating blows to Thanos, giving Tony Stark the distraction he needs to grab the gauntlet.

Valkyrie has lost her planet, her people, and her sisters. Yet through helping Thor she rediscovers her purpose as a mighty Valkyrie of Asgard. Armed once again with her sword, Dragonfang, she takes to the air, cutting down Thanos’ army and giving a much needed Pegasus ride to Spider-Man.
Okoye & Shuri
Both of these women are incredible warriors of Wakanda. Okoye is dedicated to the traditional ways of the ancestors, fighting with her vibranium spear. Meanwhile, Shuri is helping the Wakandans to evolve, still wearing traditional fighting gear and braids, but combining it with technology she’s designed.
Hope Van Dyne is easy to miss in this set because she’s not a minifigure. She’s in her Wasp suit and shrunk down to a tiny size. She has a pretty big role to play during this battle though, helping Ant-Man to fix the quantum tunnel and providing cover for Captain Marvel to be able to reach it.
Thanos is almost an afterthought in this set, and with all these incredible superheroes surrounding him, the Titan never stood a chance. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuing to realise the important empowering messages of its women characters, it’s great to see the LEGO designers doing the same in this set.
