Vote for a hobby themed LEGO build to become a gift with purchase set

The LEGO Ideas Build Your Hobby challenge has opened to a fan vote, giving you an opportunity to help choose the next LEGO Ideas gift with purchase set.

Open through August 20, 2025, fan voting for the LEGO Ideas Build Your Hobby challenge is underway, allowing LEGO Ideas fans the chance to decide the next LEGO Ideas gift with purchase set (the free goodies added to your LEGO.com purchase for spending a certain amount).

The Build Your Hobby challenge tasked builders with creating a small build (roughly 200 pieces) depicting any aspect of their favourite hobby. Whether that was a home cinema for movie lovers, a paintbrush for artists or a fish for divers… it was all up to the builders. And fifteen models have been selected for fans to choose between.

Of the fifteen finalists, vignettes were by far the most popular format, representing twelve of the builds. Two then created LEGO brick versions of their hobby’s necessary tools, and the final made a little character to personify their hobby.

The lone character build is Show Tunes, designed by LEGO Ideas user Remmy. Remmy’s project features a anthropomorphic old school TV set, built in a similar way to 10349 Happy Plants. But a love for watching too much TV isn’t the only thing being depicted here — the cute little television has a pair of headphones on, combining the latest hit shows with today’s top tunes.

Doomslizer’s Build, Paint and Play! is a collection of a model builder’s most essential tools, including a variety of paints and brushes, a tube of Kragle and all the needed parts to assemble the model. It appears that this builder’s latest project is a Classic Space astronaut .

And the last non-vignette build is the 80s Movable Joystick by BrickG.irl. This project is pretty much as it sounds, creating a retro-style gaming controller complete with working buttons and a moving joystick. While perhaps not the flashiest of the bunch, functionality is always welcome.

The remaining twelve models are all vignettes of some sort, showing minifigures partake in their builder’s favourite hobbys. TangTaizong’s Gone Fishing shows a pair of minifigures enjoying a cosy afternoon at their lakeside cabin; Oky’s Adventures in VR creatively builds a scene into VR goggles; and GothamBricks77’s LEGO Collector’s Room features a LEGO room so organised it borders on fantasy.

For a full look at all the finalists and to vote for your favourite, head on over to the LEGO Ideas challenge page. Voting is open now through August 20, at which point the LEGO Ideas team will process the results and announce the winner sometime by early September. So be sure to stay tuned here and to Blocks’ social media channels so you don’t miss the exciting announcement.

The winner will then go through a redesign process typical for LEGO Ideas projects, with release as a gift with purchase set expected sometime in 2026.
