Visit the Nike Play Arena at LEGOLAND California this month

LEGOLAND California is celebrating World Play Day with Nike, setting up limited-time experiences for guests until June 11, and then LEGO Masters crashes the party later in the month.

World Play Day is set for June 11, and LEGOLAND California is joining the fun along with Nike, creating sports-themed activities for guests to take part in, with LEGO Masters staging its own event on June 21 and 22.

Having begun on June 7, the activities at LEGOLAND California will run through June 11, the date that the LEGO Group is celebrating as World Play Day (the same day the United Nations recognised as the International Day of Play). All the activities share a basketball theme, which was chosen to tie in with the LEGO Group’s partnership with Nike. The partnership recently revealed its first LEGO set, 43008 Nike Dunk.

Guests at LEGOLAND California will be able to design their own LEGO minifigure athlete trading cards, cashing in on the sports card craze in a personal way. The cards can be customised with personalised minifigure characters who of course come with plenty of Nike outfit options. These cards can then be traded or shared with friends or kept as a souvenir.

Brick-built basketball jerseys are also on offer, with tons of LEGO bricks on hand for guests to build mini basketball jerseys and display them for other visitors to see. The only downside of this activity is that the jerseys have to stay at the park — this is not a make-and-take activity.

For those looking for more traditional basketball fun and a chance to test their skills on the court, there is a court set up for guests to try the ‘ultimate 3-pointer.’ The court is specially designed and mixes in fun LEGO brick decorations. And then there’s the obligatory photo-op afterwards, with the Wall of Fame set up for fans to take a commemorative photo.

LEGO Masters at LEGOLAND California

But that’s not everything that’s on at LEGOLAND California this month — LEGO Masters US will be filming its season six audition episodes there on June 21 and 22. If you’ve been itching to showcase your building skills on LEGO Masters, this could be your chance.

Auditions will be held for two-person teams and solo builders, who are asked to come with a custom build to show to the producers, and if all goes well, the LEGO Masters judges. While open to everyone over the age of 18, the auditions have limited space and require an RSVP, which can be found at LEGOMasterstv.com.

If you aren’t looking to audition for the show and would prefer to just take a peek at the impressive models auditioning for a spot on LEGO Masters season six, the auditions will be visible to park guests.

The World Play Day activities hosted by LEGOLAND California and Nike are happening now and open until June 11. And if you’re interested in the LEGO Masters auditions, as a builder or as a fan, they can be found in the park on June 21 and 22, 2025.
