6607 Service Truck represents one of the great strengths of early LEGO Town. Released in 1982, it offers the essentials of a satisfying small set – a figure, a vehicle and an accessory that provides immediate inspiration to play.
These pocket money models could gradually populate a larger town, adding everyday activity between the more substantial buildings and vehicles. 6607 brings another worker and another job to the streets, making the layout feel busier and more alive. The Service Truck’s unglamorous role is part of that charm, giving routine municipal work a place alongside the more dramatic attractions of a Town layout.
The update is larger. It makes room , with a fuller chassis and bodywork with a more developed shape. Sloped elements add definition to the small vehicle and help it feel more substantial than the original’s minimal construction. The aim is to make the truck more detailed while preserving its original purpose. A small maintenance vehicle should still look compact enough to belong among the streets and pavements of a Town layout. The larger size gives it a presence better suited to more recent City sets that serve a similar purpose.
