The LEGO Group has revisited the Batmobile many times and has taken advantage of the many different renditions that have graced the silver screen. Recently, the DC Super Heroes theme has focused on the Batman Returns version in two sets – 76355 Batman Returns Batmobile at large scale and 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck at minifigure scale.
This version is smaller than either, a palm-sized take for the corner of a desk. Without the piece count of a larger model, the car has to establish its identity through a handful of carefully chosen features. Fortunately, the vehicle from Batman Returns has a particularly strong visual identity. Its long, narrow body, flared rear wings and prominent central air intake make it an ideal candidate for reduction, provided those proportions and details are preserved. The challenge is to maintain the shape as seen on screen while also keeping the entire build close to the ground.
