Ranking the best LEGO Star Wars battle packs

As LEGO Star Wars battle packs continue to deliver essential troops to the galaxy’s battle lines, here is a countdown of the best army builder sets ever released. And they don’t all focus on Clone Troopers!

75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers is the latest LEGO Star Wars battle pack, with almost 50 of the army building sets now having been released since they arrived on shelves in 2007. Although they are synonymous with Clone Trooper units and every kind of Stormtrooper imaginable, there has been a huge variety of characters over the years. The first two sets in the collection were 7655 Clone Troopers Battle Pack and 7654 Droids Battle Pack.

Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, is ranking the top five LEGO Star Wars battle packs from through the years…

5. 75088 Senate Commando Troopers (2015)

These bright blue commandos are only seen briefly in the background of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith but play a far more important role during The Clone Wars. Assigned to protect the halls of the Galactic Senate, as well as the senators in office, they even helped Padmé Amidala transport the Separatist mastermind Nute Gunray when he was arrested. Their minifigures brilliantly capture the bright cerulean detailing on their armour while maintaining the distinctive animated aesthetic. And although he isn’t named on the box, the white detailing on the leader denotes Captain Argyus.

 4. 75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack (2019)

Formed by Admiral Garrick Versio and led by Iden Versio, Inferno Squad exists to protect the Empire, bury its secrets, and eliminate threats. They are an elite force that can infiltrate any environment and were assigned to help carry out the ruthless Operation Cinder. Star Wars Battlefront II: Inferno Squad follows their story and seems them betray the Empire. This battle pack remains the only way to grab the elite unit in their signature black and red armour.

3. 75167 Bounty Hunter Speeder Bike Battle Pack (2017)

It’s not often that a LEGO Star Wars battle pack has both exceptional minifigures and a great mini build. Most fans come for the minifigures and some don’t even bother building whatever else is in the box. However, 75167 Bounty Hunter Speeder Bike Battle Pack is an exception. It has a brilliant speeder that can easily fit two minifigures and while it is inspired by LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, it still feels quintessentially part of the Star Wars universe. It has all of the scum and villainy in one box as 4-LOM, IG-88, Bossk and Dengar attempt to be the best bounty hunter.

2. 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack (2025)

The 327th Star Corps is the unit under the command of Aayla Secura that had a pretty unique story arc during The Clone Wars. They teamed up with the 501st to help defend the planet Maridun and the local Lurmen from a Separatist invasion. The Lurmen are basically talking ring-tailed lemurs with Irish accents, while Jon Favreau voices the evil Lor Durd. While this battle pack seems to be based on Felucia, it’s also perfect for roleplaying this crazy episode.

1. 75359 322nd Ahsoka’s Clone Troopers Battle Pack (2023)

As Anakin Skywalker parts ways with Ahsoka as she journeys to deliver Maul to the Jedi Council, he gifts Snips with her own battalion who have painted their helmets in honour of her Togruta markings. It makes the following sequence of events even more heartbreaking as they undertake Order 66. With uniquely printed helmets and armour, these minifigures commemorate one of the most dramatic stories ever told in The Clone Wars.
