LEGO Star Wars reveals Yoda and Darth Vader busts

LEGO Star Wars is getting a new type of 18+ display set — these models won’t break the bank and come with minifigures, too.

A new format is coming to LEGO Star Wars. Two busts inspired by iconic characters are coming out on April 26, 2026. They are:

Both sets will come with one minifigure each and launch alongside a wave of Mandalorian & Grogu sets that were revealed earlier this year.

Busts aren’t entirely new to LEGO Star Wars; in the early days, there was a massive Darth Maul model that’s become incredibly sought after by collectors. But not very many followed that original set, with the only notable release being 75227 Darth Vader Bust, a limited-run 20th anniversary set from 2019. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes has been where bust sets have most often found a home in recent years, with models such as 76327 Iron Man MK4 Bust.

And now LEGO Star Wars is trying its hand at bust models with 75438 Yoda Bust and 75439 Darth Vader Bust. These join an already-crowded range of 18+ sets in the theme, including UCS, Starship Collection and Helmet Collection.

75439 Darth Vader Bust holds around the lower end of the price spectrum for the Starship Collection, while 75438 Yoda Bust is notably cheaper — a starting digit of 3 for the price is unheard of for the other 18+ collections, unless the prices reach the triple digits. Long story short, cheaper display models are nice to see.

The interesting thing with price this time around is that 75438 Yoda Bust comes with 50 more pieces yet is 10 [insert currency of choice here] cheaper across the US, UK and EU. Measurements for the sets clock in for Yoda at 21cm (8in) tall and 10cm (4in) wide and for Vader at 18cm (7in) tall and 14cm (5.5in) wide. So comparing size in terms of measurements is a bit of a wash. Actual assessments of value will have to wait until Blocks gets the sets in-hand to review in an upcoming issue.

As for the builds themselves, they look to accurately represent their characters. Vader’s helmet looks to have good shaping, and the rest of the model focuses on his iconic shoulder pads and breastplate. Yoda is of course green and has his pointed ears, and he also gets arms and his lightsaber, making it more of a statue-sliced-in-half than a bust, but it adds a nice bit of visual flare to the model. Both have posable heads and can be rotated on their stands.

Those stands are similar to those found in the Helmet Collection, though what sets them apart is the inclusion of a minifigure. There’s the option to have just the nameplate beneath the bust but altering the build slightly (with pieces included in the box) lets the minifigure get a place on the stand as well. Neither the Yoda nor Vader minifigures look to be new but seeing them included is as great as it is infuriating for fans clamouring for minifigures in Helmet and Starship sets.

It will be interesting to see how these two sets perform — if they become stalwarts of LEGO Star Wars like the Helmet and Starship Collections or fizzle out after just a few models. Hopefully it’s the former, as the lower prices on these make them affordable alternatives to other display models, and 75438 Yoda Bust already shows this line has potential to expand beyond the characters covered in the Helmet Collection. Be sure to stay tuned to Blocks for any future news regarding Star Wars bust sets and keep an eye out for reviews of both these initial ones in an upcoming issue of the monthly LEGO magazine for fans.
