10351 Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook introduces a new format to the LEGO Icons theme for adults, presenting a tiny minifigure world to slot between your books (or magazines).
Coming on June 1, 10351 Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook is made up of 1,359 pieces and will be priced at £109.99 / $129.99 / €129.99.
The set was the brainchild of Senior Model Designer Antica Bracanov, who reveals the creative process behind the model in an upcoming issue of Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine for fans.
Unlike typical LEGO sets, there are walls on both sides so that you can slide the set between your tomes on a bookshelf and then peek into the miniature world. It also folds open though, revealing a flat backed but dimensional scene on Baker Street.
There’s a revolving display window, a shadowy terraced residence with a sliding front door, mysteries and clues, and a detailed recreation of Sherlock Holmes’ 221B apartment complete with a fireplace, clue board and violin.
Upgrade your LEGO hobby! If you take out a subscription to Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, you’ll get each issue first and at a discount, plus other perks including a free digital subscription and the chance to win LEGO prizes every month.
The set includes five LEGO characters as minifigures – Sherlock himself, Dr Watson, Irene Adler, Professor Moriarty and Paige the newspaper kid.
“You can open all the doors and peek inside,” says Antica. “You can also peek into Sherlock’s apartment and there’s this awesome clue board on his wall. I think it’s the most easter eggs and references we’ve ever put on decoration.”
“We wanted to include as many decorations and little details as possible, so you can start opening these doors and uncovering different little surprises, and then even the accessories that the characters have hint to different stories,” adds Graphic Designer Johanna W. Jensen.
