How Fabuland introduced storytelling in Issue 125 of the monthly LEGO magazine

LEGO Fabuland is a classic theme from back in the day – and it introduced storytelling to the brick world. Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine for adult fans, Issue 125 is exploring how the range came about in the 1970s.

With a look at documents from the 1970s, Blocks Issue 125 is delving into how LEGO Fabuland was meticulously planned so that it could deliver a story-driven play experience to children. The monthly LEGO magazine for adult fans then takes a look at how Builder Stuart Harris and Senior Model Designer Markus Rollbühler created the new LEGO House exclusive set that pays tribute to the theme.

Issue 125 is available worldwide now as part of a subscription or as a single issue (fun fact – the subscription price is much better!).

Plus, if you take out a 12 month print subscription before Monday, March 3, you’ll get a FREE LEGO polybag – and if you go for a 24 month print subscription you’ll also get a FREE Fabuland poster. Who doesn’t love a freebie?

We’re giving away 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute – signed by the designers who crafted it – to one lucky subscriber! To be in with a chance of winning, take out a subscription before April 2, 2025.

The deep dive into the creation of the special LEGO Fabuland nostalgia set is illustrated with sketch models, annotated digital concepts and sketches for the model’s sticker – it’s a clear and thorough look into the LEGO model design process.

Around the same time that Fabuland launched, the LEGO Group introduced the minifigure – in the final part of The Minifigure Story, Blocks reveals how the legs were crafted by carefully examining prototype characters.

Minifigures love racing around the track and Issue 125 of the monthly LEGO magazine is giving the new City Formula 1 sets a spin. They are not all of equal quality, but some of them are definitely worth considering – even if you usually opt for the detail of Speed Champions. Star Wars, Marvel, DC and Disney also feature in this month’s Reviews section.

As always, the magazine includes exclusive building instructions for a mini version of Malfoy Manor from Harry Potter, a modern recreation of Blacktron 1875 Meteor Monitor and a Grazer from the Horizon video games.

You’ll find much more inside the 116-page magazine, including a debate about tech in LEGO sets, whether you should invest in 10355 Blacktron Renegade, the best British LEGO sets and much, much more.
