LEGO Stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland are hosting lots of free events for children over the course of August, from building challenges to ‘make and take’ activities.
Children visiting at any LEGO Store in the UK and Ireland will be able to take part in building activities throughout the month of August to celebrate the summer holidays.
Part of the LEGO Group’s ‘Come in and Play’ campaign, the events are running now through the August 31, taking place at all LEGO Stores in the British Isles. So whether your local store is Leicester Square or Dublin, you’ll be able to take part. Unfortunately, the events are not available outside of the UK and Ireland (check your local LEGO Store as there will probably be other build activities to check out).
Upgrade your LEGO hobby! If you take out a subscription to Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, you’ll get each issue first and at a discount, plus other perks including a free digital subscription and the chance to win LEGO prizes every month.
There are three types of events and promotions on offer, with some running all through the month and others limited to certain days. General activities and promotional items will be available all month (while supplies last), while building challenges and ‘make and take’ events will be held on specific days.
Full details below:
The lone make and take activity of the month will be for Z-Blob from LEGO DREAMZzz and will be available on August 23 10am – 12pm and August 24 12pm – 2pm. Make and take activities are typically open to anyone and limited to one build per guest, so a family can each build their own model to take home at no cost.
Other events limited to specific days:
- August 4 – 10: LEGO City “Build your City” Challenge
- August 11 – 17: LEGO Friends “Build a Hangout” Challenge
- August 18 – 24: LEGO DREAMZzz “Build a Dream Creature” Challenge
- August 25 – 31: LEGO NINJAGO “Build a Dragon Challenge
Building challenges provide another opportunity for children to get hands on with LEGO bricks, but their creations will have to stay put in the LEGO Store — they cannot be taken home like a make and take model.
Events running the entire month are:
- Limited edition ‘Come in and Play’ stamp for your LEGO Passport
- Scavenger hunt with sticker sheets and posters as rewards
- Clubhouse Poster Challenge with stickers earned for completing activities
- Exclusive LEGO DREAMZzz Build a Minifigure parts
- Limited edition LEGO City and NINJAGO torso designs at Minifigure Factory (only at stores wit Minifigure Factory)
Most of the listed events and promotions are entirely free for children – Build a Minifigure and Minifigure Factory cost money – and require no advance booking. Though to guarantee the poster and sticker rewards from the scavenger hunt, it’s best to get to your local LEGO Store sooner rather than later. Same goes for the make and take — it’s not likely to run out, but arriving early is best. For exact details regarding operating times and dates, check with your local LEGO Store.
