Footballing legends check out LEGO Editions 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy

Footballing icons Iker Casillas, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Marco Materazzi and Sami Khedira have had a chance to examine 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy from the new LEGO Editions theme in person, ahead of its release.

Iker Casillas, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Marco Materazzi and Sami Khedira are part of the promotional campaign for the recently announced LEGO Editions 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy. The players got hands-on with the new set to see how it compares to the real thing.

43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy launches on March 1, uses 2,842 pieces and will retail for £159.99 / $199.99. It’s the first set from the LEGO Group’s new collaboration with Fifa, the organisation that last year gave a newly invented ‘peace prize’ to the President of the United States.

Roberto Carlos and Cafu both wanted to take the trophy home with them – but fortunately each of the revered players was given a special copy with a bespoke scene built just for them.

“Winning the World Cup Trophy means reaching almost heaven. When you achieve this goal, this accomplishment, it’s like you feel immortal,” said Iker Casillas, who won the FIFA World Cup for Spain in 2010.

“It is a unique moment in the life of a player to be able to lift this trophy that is worth a lot to our career and wish the title for your country,” said Roberto Carlos, who was part of Brazil’s FIFA World Cup winning squad in 2002.

As well as building the massive replica, the set comes with a special new minifigure scale trophy element designed to match the real thing. 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy is currently on display for the first time in person at London Toy Fair.

“Like all children you dream of playing football, of becoming a professional,” said Marco Materazzi, who was part of Italy’s world cup winning team in 2006.

“Everybody’s dreaming of winning this wonderful trophy especially the young kids can build it on their own and hold it,” added Sami Khedira, who was part of Germany’s 2014 winning team.

The LEGO Group and FIFA World Cup 2026 are promising play experiences throughout the year to tie into the tournament.
