The LEGO Group and Epic Games have announced major updates to the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, now allowing players to build their own creations brick by brick.
The Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) was launched last year and allows Fornite players to build their own LEGO Islands, which can then be published and shared with other players. At launch, the UEFN only allowed for the placing of pre-constructed LEGO models, including houses, streets and decorations. This allowed for a good bit of customisation on its own, but players weren’t free to let their imaginations run truly wild.
But now, UEFN is launching 50 individual LEGO bricks in 42 real-life colours for players to use to build their own digital LEGO creations to then share with the wider LEGO Fortnite player base. The 50 elements are mostly simple bricks and plates, along with a few tiles, slopes and rounded elements. While certainly not the most robust catalogue of LEGO bricks, it’s a significant step up from what was available before. A building tool has been added alongside these bricks, which is designed to allow for easy building. Though that’s something that will have to be tested out by players — LEGO Worlds’ individual brick building was a painstaking chore.

In addition to brick-by-brick building, LEGO Fortnite will be launching LEGO Bloom Tycoon on June 17. LEGO Bloom Tycoon will include five new galleries of pre-built assets that builders can add to their LEGO Islands. All these new pieces are intended to help builders design gardens and farms, adding a splash of greenery to the LEGO Fortnite Islands. The galleries contain props, animals and gameplay pieces that have the potential to shape new experiences while exploring LEGO Islands, boasting that creators will be able to make new game modes from the fresh batch of elements. What exactly these game modes could be will have to wait until the June 17 launch.
“We are so excited to see what the UEFN community make with these new updates,” said Kari Vinther Nielsen, Head of Product, Play & Creator Growth, GAME at the LEGO Group. “We are continually blown away by the creativity and imagination we see from creators, and we believe these new tools, assets and templates significantly expand the creative toolkit to build LEGO Islands.”
LEGO Fortnite and the UEFN are free to play via the Fortnite launcher on any platform you can download Fortnite, and the whole batch of new bricks and elements will be available in the UEFN on June 17, 2025.
