Blocks magazine Issue 89 features LEGO Globe, Galidor, Speed Champions and Star Wars video games

If you like your LEGO magazines absolutely packed with features, then Blocks Issue 89 is the one you need – there’s the Ideas Globe, The Batman movie sets, Star Wars video games, Speed Champions, Galidor and more.

The latest issue of Blocks, the LEGO magazine for fans, is available now. This is the right moment to take out a subscription, because then you’ll get our LEGO 90th anniversary commemorative edition early; that is a very special issue of Blocks you simply can’t afford to miss. Everyone who subscribes by April 6 will be in with a chance of winning one of two 21332 The Globe sets!

Issue 89 reviews The Globe as well as the new minifigure scale The Batman movie sets. There’s also a review of the new Collectible Minifigures Series 22 characters, the new BrickHeadz sets and Star Wars 75324 Dark Trooper Attack.

Speaking of new sets, LEGO Design Manager Chris Stamp stops by to talk about the latest Speed Champions cars. He talks about each of the sets – 76906 Ferrari 1970 Ferrari 512 M, 76907 Lotus Evija, 76908 Lamborghini Countach, 76910 Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro & Vantage GT3 and 76909 Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance & Mercedes-AMG Project One – giving a fascinating insight into the design process.

There’s plenty of retro action this month too – the epic LEGO flop Galidor turns 20 this year, so Daniel Konstanski brings fresh ideas to the bizarre action figure theme to see if it deserves its terrible reputation, before LEGO Senior Designer Nicolaas Vás shares the creative journey he went on with the theme.

Less controversial are the original LEGO Star Wars video games and we have a retrospective looking at why they are such classics, plus a preview that will have you ready for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga when it arrives in April.

On the topic of nostalgia, there’s also a look at the classic Castle Dragon Knights subtheme from the 1990s. Original sets are revisited, memories are shared – and there are tips for building a modern magic shop for Majisto the wizard.

Packing out the rest of the 116 pages are a minifigure friendly mod for the UCS AT-AT, a guide to building carts and carriages, a run-down of Collectible Minifigures Series 22, top ten globe-trotting sets and much, much more.
