When Sony launched the original PlayStation in December 1994, it helped transform home video gaming. Its CD-based games and impressive 3D graphics opened the door to experiences that had been difficult to deliver on earlier consoles and the machine ultimately became the first home console to pass 100 million units sold.
Its simple grey casing became almost as recognisable as the games it played. The LEGO Group has now paid tribute to that iconic machine with 72306 PlayStation, a detailed, life-size recreation complete with a controller. This version uses a much smaller number of elements.
There are three key circles that allow you to capture its familiar design with just a handful of bricks. The original PlayStation’s top surface is dominated by its large circular CD deck lid, with two smaller circular buttons positioned on either side.
