From bananas to chillis, apples to corn, there’s more than your five-a-day of fruit and veg loving minifigures. In fact, the Collectible Minifigures series has done plenty of plastic foods, aside from the dreaded broccoli. Eating an apple everyday or finishing the greens may be one way to stay healthy, but the minifigure versions that dress up as their edible counterparts are a fun way to make everyone like vegetables.

Chilli Costume Fan (71032 Collectible Minifigures Series 22)

Nothing spices up any curry or salsa better than a fiery chilli, and there’s an unbelievable 4,000 different types to choose from. With beads of sweat pouring down her brow and an accompanying carton of LEGO milk, then Chilli Costume Fan is clearly one hot pepper. While an overall quite simplistic minifigure, her newly moulded chilli costume looks extremely realistic and could easily be a mascot for a chilli eating competition.

Banana Guy (71013 Collectible Minifigures Series 16)

With over 24 billion tons eaten across the globe, bananas are probably the world’s favourite fruit. And no wonder – these mellow yellow fruits are a quick sugar hit that are perfect for the lunch run. Banana Guy definitely knows he’s popular by how cool he looks in designer sunglasses and dazzling smile. If it wasn’t obvious enough what fruit he is, then a brightly coloured sticker proudly proclaiming banana is printed onto his costume.
Corn Cob Guy (71018 Collectible Minifigures Series 17)

It can be put in bread. Added to salads. Drenched in butter or decadently topped with cheese on a barbecue. Corn cobs are so versatile and while the yellow kind may be the most popular, there’s also blue, purple and even rainbow corn too. The version in Collectibles Minifigure Series 17 is the classic corn cob, encapsulating the farmer vibe with a bushy moustache and warm expression.
Cactus Girl (71021 Collectible Minifigures Series 18)

So, this may sound surprising, but certain cacti can actually be eaten. It might not be a veg choice on most menus, but in South America and Mexico, cactus is a popular side dish and tastes a bit like asparagus. Cactus Girl is a very unique minifigure, sporting new arm elements for a cactus appearance, while her suit is moulded with a few spikes too.
Watermelon Dude (71023 The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures)

The LEGO Movie 2 provided plenty of fun minifigures, but the bright pinks and greens of Watermelon Guy were just brilliant. He has quite a complex outfit, with geometric patterns on his legs and torso, while the triangular suit that makes the watermelon slice has realistic seeds printed on it. As a cute finishing touch, he’s even holding a quarter-circle tile with a watermelon print.
Pea Pod Costume Girl (71027 Collectible Minifigures Series 20)

Reminiscent of the talking peas in Toy Story 3, Pea Pod Girl went for all the greens. Her costume is dually moulded, with a slightly lighter green for the peas and darker for the pod, whilst she even manages to pull off lime green lipstick. If all the greens weren’t enough, she comes with an apple to really bring all the vitamins.
That’s all the minifigures you’d be able to find growing in the soil or on the vine for now, but fruit and vegetables are a popular choice for the LEGO designers, so expect to see more in the future! Plus remember Collectible Minifigures Series 22 is on shelves now, so go feeble for Chilli Costume Fan next time you’re in the supermarket!
