With the modern classic 10228 Haunted House set reimagined as 31167 Haunted Mansion, Blocks is meeting the spooks, monsters and creatures of the night in the set, then looking back at how these paranormal minifigures have evolved through the decades.
LEGO Design Manager Samuel Liltorp Johnson shares the inside story of the British Grand Prix trophy – he explains how the project started, shows the original design he came up with, then describes what it was like to hand carry a trophy from Billund to Silverstone. It’s an epic tale that ended with Sam’s work in the hands of Lando Norris as he celebrated his win.
There’s more treasure than that in this magazine though, as LEGO ONE PIECE Creative Lead Andrew Seenan reveals what it was like to depict the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates in a vibrant collection of models. He even shares what 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant could have looked like as a play scale set, before it was given the 18+ treatment.
If it wasn’t for the success of LEGO Space back in the late 1970s and 1980s, there probably wouldn’t be LEGO sets as fans know them today. But the Danish company didn’t dominate the market back then and had to see off Spanish rival Tente – learn all about the Space Race in the toy industry in a special history deep dive.
Find out how spooks, ghouls and monsters have evolved through the decades on Issue 131 of the LEGO magazine for fans. Samuel Liltorp Johnson reveals the inside story of the LEGO Formula 1 Trophy that Lando Norris won at the British Grand Prix and ONE PIECE Creative Lead Andrew Seenan explains how the team approached the new theme within the 116-page magazine.
As well as features taking you inside the world of LEGO products, Blocks always includes tips and tricks for building your own creations. Issue 131’s spotlight masterpiece is the Buccaneer’s Dread, a massive and beautiful pirate ship that is packed with intricate detail. Specific call-out part uses and steps demonstrate how to take aspects of the model and incorporate them in your own creations.
Three instructions spreads show how to build specific mini models you can’t find anywhere else – a mini 75432 V-19 Torrent Starfighter from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a mini 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship and a modern take on 7884 Batman’s Buggy: The Escape of Mr. Freeze.
There is plenty more besides in the monthly magazine for LEGO fans, Issue 131. Within this 116-page edition you’ll also find real-life objects recreated with bricks, reviews of new Disney sets, a look back at 1980 in bricks and much, much more.
