LEGO Jurassic Park 77985 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops revealed

77985 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops is coming to LEGO Jurassic World this year, one of at least two 18+ sets alongside 77984 Jeep Wrangler.

Following a tease on Friday alongside the announcement of 77984 Jeep Wrangler, the LEGO Group has revealed 77985 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops. The upcoming Jurassic World set uses 1,154 pieces and is in a similar style to 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex. The release date and price have not yet been announced. It looks like the model will involve building a Technic core and then attaching System elements for the relevant shaping.

Like the previous skeleton set, the Triceratops comes on a display base with a Jurassic Park branded information plaque. It also includes a minifigure of Dr. Gerry Harding. He is an appropriate choice, as Dr. Ellie Sattler comes across him caring for the sick Triceratops when she abandons the scheduled tour. He will complement the other minifigures from the classic film that came in 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage.

Some fans love the dinos, but others fondly remember the vehicles. 77984 Jeep Wrangler is set in the context of Dennis Nedry departing Jurassic Park with his valuable shaving foam can full of dino DNA, as it includes the East Dock sign that doesn’t prove all that illuminating in the midst of a storm. A large canvas element adds authenticity to the model.

For a number of years, the LEGO Group has tapped into nostalgia for the original Jurassic movie in sets like 76956 T. rex Breakout, which featured the iconic Ford Explorer.

It has been a busy few days for LEGO set announcements, with 21367 Tintin Moon Rocket revealed, Super Mario minifigures teased and 72050 Mario KartLuigi & Mach 8 announced.
