LEGO gets Fast & Furious with Dom’s Dodge Charger

Do you like LEGO? Do you like Technic? Do you like the Fast & Furious franchise? If you answered yes to all three of those, then you might just fall in the perfect (and presumably lesser-spotted) triumvirate the LEGO Group is pitching for with 42111 Dom’s Dodge Charger.

The 1,077-piece Technic set is a pins-and-beams recreation of the Fast & Furious’ most iconic ride (according to the official press release, at least). And it comes just in time for the latest cinematic instalment to be delayed by almost an entire year, with the COVID-19 pandemic pushing F9’s release back to April 2021.

The LEGO Group will be hoping that news won’t put off the pocket of die-hard fans who would normally snap this set up, because it’s pressing ahead and releasing its Technic tie-in anyway. The 1970 Dodge Charger R/T will apparently allow fans to recreate the death-defying stunts of the movie saga, with double wishbone suspension, a wheelie bar and a couple of nitro bottles.

Samuel Tacchi, the LEGO designer behind Dom’s Dodge Charger, said:

“The high-octane action of the Fast & Furious franchise has captured the hearts and imaginations of petrol-heads the world over. We want to inspire people of all ages to explore their creativity through building whatever their passion is, and we know fans of LEGO Technic and the blockbuster franchise love cool cars and adrenaline-fuelled fun. Brought together by that same passion, we worked really closely with the Universal team to bring Dom’s Dodge Charger to life in the most minute detail to inspire Fast & Furious fans and LEGO Technic builders around the world.”

42111 Dom’s Dodge Charger will be available to order from LEGO.com on April 27 for £89.99/$99.99/€99.99.
