It’s time to book a ticket with Dodo Airlines as players prepare for the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons update that includes a LEGO brick twist…
It has been a long time since Animal Crossing: New Horizons received a major update, leaving fans with no new quests to complete or any new decor for customising homes. But to coincide with the recent release of the Nintendo Switch 2 and its enhanced capabilities, there are now two new major updates coming soon. So start saving up Nook Miles again because you’re going to need them!
The first update for New Horizons will be an upgrade to a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, with enhanced graphics resolution, expanded multiplayer settings and mouse support when decorating or customising items. However, dedicated Switch players who haven’t yet upgraded consoles don’t need to worry. The second update is Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 3.0 which will be available for both consoles.

This free update adds a new Resort Hotel run by the Kapp’n family who need your help to encourage visitors by decorating each of the rooms based on different themes. Decorating the rooms will earn players Hotel Tickets which can be exchanged for items in the souvenir shop. There’s also the new Slumber Island that you can decorate while your character sleeps, from terraforming to even the time of day.
But why is this exciting for LEGO fans specifically? The update includes collaborations with other brands and Nintendo franchises, including a whole host of furniture, decorations and new outfits all inspired by the brick. There will be LEGO brick versions of a bed, fireplace, workbench, sofa, table, plants and more. These are all going to be in the classic primary colours, pastels inspired by Friends and muted shades reminiscent of Icons sets. Each item is based on actual LEGO pieces and building techniques, simply translated into digital models.

There will also be new wallpapers and flooring that will make your Animal Crossing home look as if it is actually made from bricks, complete with studs showing in some places. If you want your character to be part of the style, then there are also a selection of LEGO brick and logo T-shirts to wear around the island.
Both the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Edition upgrade and Version 3.0 will be available on January 15, 2026. Version 3.0 is a free update and the upgrade will cost £4.19/$4.99. The current version is available to play now on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with a selection of LEGO Animal Crossing sets available to purchase now.
