Sneaking off down to Hogsmeade Village for butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks and stocking up on candy delights in Honeydukes, it’s the perfect place for witches and wizards to do some festive shopping. Decked out in almost as many twinkling lights and wreaths as Hogwarts Castle, the location oozes wintery charm. So, it’s no wonder that 76418 Harry Potter Advent Calendar is themed around Hogsmeade this year.
76418 Harry Potter Advent Calendar
|Price||£29.99 / $44.99 / €37.99|
Everything about the advent calendar is inspired by the events of The Prisoner of Azkaban when Harry Potter sneaks into town by using the Marauder’s Map. It’s a really strong theme and allows a lot of storytelling to be put into each build – something that has been missing from previous years. Not only are the minifigures a perfect addition for 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit, but the box art is beautifully illustrated and makes 76418 a lovely display piece throughout the holiday countdown.
And all of the six minifigures included are exclusive, so 76418 is great value for money. Harry looks suitably ready to be hiding from professors using a new hood element that’s sure to turn up in other LEGO themes. If that wasn’t enough new headgear, then Draco has a unique fluffy hat mould that even has ear flaps, while Ron’s longer hair is being kept warm under a bobble hat.
The accompanying mini builds are a nice assortment of Christmas requisites like trees and snowmen alongside some suitably magical items, including chocolate frog displays and a cask of butter beer. What is really interesting about each build is that they could easily be used in an everyday Harry Potter display just by swapping out the snowy bricks.
With its exclusive minifigures and wonderfully festive elements, 76418 Harry Potter Advent Calendar is a must-have for Wizarding World fans and possibly the best of this year’s LEGO advent calendar selection.
VERDICT: Prisoner of Azkaban fans need to grab Buckbeak to fly and get this super set full of fantastic minifigures.
