There’s a new addition to the upscaled LEGO minifigure collection, and it’s right out of Classic Space: 40921 Scaled-Up Blue Astronaut Minifigure is coming to a galaxy near you.
LEGO 40921 Scaled-Up Blue Astronaut Minifigure will come with 793 pieces for a retail price of £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99, releasing on March 1, 2026.
Upscaled LEGO minifigures have been slowly becoming a staple of the LEGO catalogue, covering characters like Captain Redbeard, 76393 Harry Potter & Hermione Granger and a good-old fashioned plain minifigure in 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure.
The latest upscaled character harkens back to the earliest days of the LEGO minifigure, when they were either townsfolk, knights or astronauts. It’s the latter that is getting the brick-built treatment now — 40921 Scaled-Up Blue Astronaut Minifigure recreates the Classic Space design as it first appeared in 1978. Or, more accurately, the Classic Space astronaut first appeared in 1978; it would take until 1984 for the blue variant to arrive (if you really want to brush up on all of this, check out the Blocks Book of Retro LEGO Sets).

Fans of previous upscaled minifigures will know what to expect here — the larger minifigure has the same points of articulation as its smaller counterpart, able to move its legs, arms and wrists. The head is locked in a forward position for stability, but the legs are given free range of motion that allows the minifigure to be posed in a walking position. Though this probably isn’t the best pose to leave it in unsupported if you don’t want it blasting off the shelf and landing on the floor.
Shaping looks to be about as accurate as it can be given the medium; the torso and legs have been done with previous characters, and the helmet, while a bit blocker than the regular minifigure version, does its job well and captures the iconic look of the character. Air tanks are of course present as well and add some detail to the back of the modern take on the vintage minifigure.

No accompanying minifigure is included. Instead, there’s a brick-built robot that can be placed inside of the upscaled minifigure’s head thanks to the top of the helmet being easily removeable. This means that the astronaut is technically a mech. A bit of an unsettling thought, but the robot is just as easily left out of the build as its own side character.
